Sigh.

My Mum's last test results didn't come back so good. She went for a bone scan but apparently although they could tell there was something the cancer doctor is no closer to telling her whether the cancer is back or not. She has to go for another test at a different hospital in nearby county. She was hoping for news one way or another at her appointment today. I think it is the waiting that is the worst. I hate being so far away. I will be there soon as I fly over on the 28th for 6 weeks. She has decided that whatever the results she wants to go on the holiday we've booked. She doesn't want to be sick while I'm visiting. I told her I come to see her, but I will support whatever she decides. She's going to be 81 in September so I'm pretty sure she knows her own mind!

So more waiting.

I spent most of the morning before talking to her walking, trying to keep busy and trying to ignore the lead lump in my stomach. It helped to sit by the lake and just watch and listen to the wonderful sounds of nature.

The heron was back at its perch. I thought I caught a glimpse of a muskrat but they are a little shy so no photo.

Lots of dragonflies around and too many of the pesky flies that bite me and make me swell up.

I haven't been too crafty lately. I'm packing up some of my craft room so daughter has a place to sleep next week when she visits. I have been knitting when the weather is cooler but I'm frustrated how my lacey patterns seem so loose. I knit tightly but when I do a lacey pattern it just looks too loose or maybe it's just me. Sigh.

  1. I am so sorry to hear your Mum's test results weren't too conclusive but will continue to hope that the additional tests will have good results. The waiting is the hardest part - that, and getting the tests authorized! I hope you have the best holiday when you visit her.

    1. Thanks! Luckily she doesn't have to worry about the authorisation. She's in England with the NHS so whatever the doctor orders she gets. They are really on the ball with setting up her appointments and such.

    1. Thanks Amy. I'm glad I'm going over. I'm also glad not to be dealing with work issues this go around so if I needed it will be really easy to stay.

  4. It's awful isn't it, especially the waiting part. I really hope everything's well for your mum, she must be so looking forward to you coming over. I can be a tight knitter, so I always cast on in needles a size up, perhaps you could try your Lacey patterns with a size smaller needle? xx

    1. I hate the waiting! When we know we can deal with it. Sigh.

Thanks for the tip about knitting. I actually do knit tightly. Whenever I do a gauge swatch I have to go up a size or more. I think maybe I'm expecting too much. Now that I've got a little bit worked it doesn't seem as bad as I thought.

  6. Terribly sorry to hear about your mum. It is very tough indeed living on the other side of the world. I sincerely hope the new test(s) are scheduled quickly and come back with good results.

You will not regret going over for 6 weeks. I do hope you get to enjoy the planned away holiday with your mum. As you say if you need to change your return day to USA you could do so now that you no longer work outside the home.

Enjoy your time with your daughter when she is home.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm so thankful I've been able to go over for longer the last couple of years. I will never regret doing it. Time is so limited.
